The following is a complete list of all projects included in the Raymond Irrigation District (RID) under this program. There are four modernization projects and one shared reservoir project.
This project replaces an open ditch channel with a closed pipeline to improve the efficiency of water delivery to approximately 630 acres. The pipeline is located northwest of Raymond. Replacing the open ditch with a closed pipeline will eliminate seepage and reduce spill.
Construction is planned to start in the Fall of 2021 and to be substantially completed for the 2022 irrigation season.
Initial estimate: $573,000.
This project replaces an open ditch channel with a closed pipeline to improve the efficiency of water delivery to approximately 3,600 acres. The pipeline is located west of Raymond. Replacing the open ditch with a closed pipeline will eliminate seepage and reduced spill.
Construction is planned to start in the Fall of 2021 and to be substantially completed for the 2025 irrigation season.
Initial estimate: $4,957,000.
This project will convert a large open ditch canal into a closed pipeline to improve water conservation, decrease seepage and decrease land severance. This project also realigns the intake to improve water flow, conserve water and alleviate demand and stress on current infrastructure.
This project is in the design phase, with construction to begin in the fall of 2023. The project will be substantially completed in the spring of 2025.
Initial estimate: $16,800,000.
Raymond Irrigation District (RID) receives most water deliveries under its water licenses from Alberta Environment and Parks via the St. Mary River Irrigation District (SMRID) Main Canal. Under the Main Canal Agreement, including SMRID, Taber Irrigation District (TID) and RID, the operation and maintenance of both the canal and in-line reservoirs are shared proportionally. RID will be participating 10 percent toward the Chin Reservoir Expansion project through the publicly announced funding arrangement and will benefit from 10 per cent of the achieved water savings through improved balancing.
Refer to the SMRID projects overview for the description, schedule and cost estimate of this project.
