In June 2024, southern China experienced record-breaking rainfall events. According to the National Climate Center’s June 2024 Climate Impact Assessment, since the start of the Meiyu season on June 10th, the precipitation in the Yangtze River Basin during June 10th-30th was 49.2% above the long-term average, marking the second highest rainfall in the basin since 1961.
