“We are suffering this severe drought, and at the same time we are suffering some results of extreme precipitation,” says Marc Prohom, head of climatology at the Meteorological Service of Catalonia. After three years of dry conditions, Catalonia’s authorities announced a drought emergency early in 2024, which lasted for several months.
