About this tour
In this unique glimpse inside Bonnybrook Wastewater Treatment Plant, City of Calgary staff will highlight how the wastewater from our homes and businesses is treated to be safely returned to the Bow River. Learn in-depth about Calgary’s largest wastewater treatment plant including our recent expansion project, flood protection measures, ultraviolet disinfection facility, among other significant modifications and upgrades over time to increase its treatment capacity to meet the needs of a growing city. This experience will showcase how you can protect the environment, our wastewater system, and your home’s plumbing with simple day-to-day actions in your home.
Important Safety Information
1. Minimum age for the tour is 13 years old and children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Unaccompanied minors will not be permitted access.
2. Personal protective equipment including a vest, hard hat, and safety glasses will be provided.
3. Tours involve walking outdoor on uneven terrain and throughout an industrial facility. For safety reasons participants MUST wear long pants and close-toed shoes.
4. The Bonnybrook Wastewater Treatment Plant is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
5. Please dress appropriate for the weather and consider a hat, gloves, or rain jacket.
6. No cameras or pictures permitted.
7. This is a fully operational plant and as such the tour may need to be cancelled due to emergency or other unforeseeable circumstance.

If you register but are unable to attend this tour, please give us at least 72 hours (3 days) notice so that we can open your spot to someone else. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and consideration.
