Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s (DFO) Partnerships team from Ontario & Prairie and Arctic regions will be providing Information Sessions on the following topics throughout the 2024 year.

DFO Legislation and Conducting Projects Near Water

  • Provides introductory background on DFO’s Aquatic Ecosystems sector’s organization within the regions, an overview of key legislation and the Projects Near Water Website, and a walk through of the Request for Review form.

These outreach sessions are intended for people who plan to work near and/or in water and are looking for introductory information on the regulatory review process within DFO. It is suggested that the DFO Legislation and Conducting Projects Near Water session be completed before attending the Authorization Process session.

DFO will provide four DFO’s Legislation and Conducting Projects Near Water sessions, beginning January 25, 2024, and two Introductory Overview of DFO’s Regulatory Instruments. Each topic will deliver the same presentation at each session.

We anticipate each session to have a 60 minute presentation by DFO, followed by ~30 minute question and answer period.

To attend any of the sessions, click on the respective date link and allow the link to open in your web browser (please use Chrome or Edge).

* If you have the Teams application installed ? click on “Open in Microsoft Teams” in the pop-up window or “Launch it Now”
* If you do not have the Teams application installed ? click “Join on the Web Instead”

These sessions will not be recorded and will only be presented in English at this time.   Please feel free to share this invitation with others that might benefit from attending these sessions.   In the meantime, the Projects Near Water Website is your main source of information on regulatory requirements and guidance on how to avoid and mitigate impacts to fish and fish habitat.
